Spatial Structure in Low Dimensions for Diffusion Limited Two-particle Reactions

چکیده
Consider the system of particles on d where particles are of two types, A and B, and execute simple random walks in continuous time. Particles do not interact with their own type, but when a type A particle meets a type B particle, both disappear. Initially, particles are assumed to be distributed according to homogeneous Poisson random fields, with equal intensities for the two types. This system serves as a model for the chemical reaction A+B → inert. In Bramson and Lebowitz [7], the densities of the two types of particles were shown to decay asymptotically like 1/td/4 for d < 4 and 1/t for d ≥ 4, as t → ∞. This change in behavior from low to high dimensions corresponds to a change in spatial structure. In d < 4, particle types segregate, with only one type present locally. After suitable rescaling, the process converges to a limit, with density given by a Gaussian process. In d > 4, both particle types are, at large times, present locally in concentrations not depending on the type, location or realization. In d = 4, both particle types are present locally, but with varying concentrations. Here, we analyze this behavior in d < 4; the behavior for d ≥ 4 will be handled in a future work by the authors.

متن کاملErratum : Renormalization Group Study of the A - I - B O Diffusion - Limited Reaction 1
In recent years much progress has been made in applying field-theoretic renormalization-group methods to models of diffusion-limited chemical reactions. One such example was a study by the present authors of the A + B--* ~ annihilation reaction with random initial conditions and equal particle densities. III Our purpose here is to correct a mistake contained in this worked and to revise the con...
متن کاملInfluence of external steady source structure on particle distributions and kinetics of diffusion - limited reactions . II . A + B - + 0 simulations
Monte Carlo simulations were performed to study the effect of a steady external source structure (i.e., particle correlation and vertical reactions) on diffusion-limited A+B-+O reactions at steady state. Several methods were developed to describe the spatial organization of the system. They are the distributions of aggregates and inter-particle distance (“gap”), and a parameter based on the num...

We analyze the limiting behavior of the densities pA(t) and pu(t), and the random spatial structure ~(t) = (s ~B(t)), for the diffusion-controlled chemical reaction A + B ~ i n e r t . For equal initial densities pA(0)=p~(0) there is a change in behavior from d~<4, where pA(t )=ps( t )~C/ t a/4, to d~>4, where pA(t)=pB(t)~C/t as t ~ *o; the term C depends on the initial densities and changes wi...
متن کاملThree-Species Diffusion-Limited Reaction with Continuous Density-Decay Exponents
We introduce a model of three-species two-particle diffusion-limited reactions A + B → A or B, B + C → B or C, and C + A → C or A, with three persistence parameters (survival probabilities in reaction) of the hopping particle. We consider isotropic and anisotropic diffusion (hopping with a drift) in 1d. We find that the particle density decays as a power-law for certain choices of the persisten...
